Synopsis
At the behest of her father, Yui Komori goes to live in a secluded mansion, home to the six Sakamaki brothers—Shuu, Reiji, Ayato, Kanato, Laito, and Subaru—a family of vampires. Though at first the siblings are confused as to why the girl has arrived, they soon realize that she is to be their new "sacrificial bride," not to mention their other, more carnal intentions for her. After meeting the brothers, Yui quickly begins to question why her father would have sent her here and why she feels a strange, new pain in her chest. With each brother more sadistic than the last, Yui's life as a captive takes a harrowing turn in her new home. As her days turn into endless nights, and each brother vows to make her his own, Yui falls deeper and deeper into madness and ecstasy.

I don't expect much when it comes to reverse harem/visual novels adaptations. Girl surrounded by cute boys who all want a piece of her. it's been done a million times. But the thing that separates Diabolik Lovers from any of the other "otome" animes, is the simple fact that it simply doesn't give a sh*t what you, the viewer, thinks.

Diabolik Lovers wasn't even that great of a otome game to begin with, it had it's moments, but when I decided to finally jump and finish this...grotesque adaptation, I was both left unsurprissed and extremelly pissed off.

Story: 3

It...pretty much doesn't have any plot whatsoever. It just consists of the main character walking around getting her blood sucked by everyone, almost raped multiple times by the same people and getting manhandled like it's nobody's business. The story (the little there is) feels very rushed and the ending was...ugh.

Art: 7

I admit, the artstyle and color spread are very nice. The characters aren't just copy-pasted with a different hairstyle, and everything is vibrant. The animation is always good, most of the time.

Sound: 7

No complaints, it sounds nice.

Characters: 5

Oh my god, the characters.

Imagine your normal, typical reverse harem characters and just add masochist rapists to every single one of them. That's it, that's the whole male cast. You have:

Ayato, who I guess could be considered the "main guy", is nothing more than an asshole. Not the worst, but still an asshole.

Reiji, glasses-kun who, at first glance looks like a serious character, until it's revealed he's the biggest f*ucking sadistic creep ever.

Kanato, psychotic little sh*t. Seriously, he has more mood swings than actual lines in the anime ( maybe not true, but you get my point.) He's f*cking creepy. Creepy shota. God I hate him so much.

Raito, this fedora wearing little sh*t is nothing more than that. A little sh*t. He teases the main character by calling her "B*tch-chan" throughout the whole anime. Makes a good drinking game though. I hate him even more.

Subaru, who I SWEAR to God, is the only decent character in this whole thing. He's always avoiding everyone, and...punching stuff, but he's actually alright.

And Shu. Cold character. You know the drill.

And then we have Yui, who's by far the dumbest otome heroine I've ever seen. In pretty much all the bad situations she gets herself into, she has some fault to it. "Oh, this guy wants to talk, even though he already attempted to rape/suck me dry multiple times? Oh, I guess it wouldn't hur- oh my GOD WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS STOP GOD HELP ME-" Every. Time.

Enjoyment: 2

This was really hard to watch. God, GOD AWFUL.

Overall: 2

In all seriousness, I don't know how any female (or anyone for that matter) would enjoy watching this. This is not only sexist, but also gives a bad rep to these type of games (otome) adaptations. I personally found it to be very offensive and degrading, mainly because of the near-rape situations.

If you want to watch this, do so, but don't expect a masterpiece out of this.
